Teen Wolf: Season 5 Excitement

Throughout the years, I (just like everyone else on the planet) have developed a couple of TV shows that I will stop whatever I’m doing to watch. And based on the title of this post, you could guess that one of them is Teen Wolf. Yes it has the same name as the 1985 movie “Teen Wolf”, but I can assure you it is much different. It is a mix between comedy, horror, romance, and action driven suspense. It’s the type of show that incorporates the supernatural in a way that it seems to make sense to you, with mythology, folk tales, and science. These are key supplements that  make the show more interesting than just a bunch of insanely attractive actors who aren’t really teens anymore.
This show is one I used to consider in my list of “guilty pleasures”, only because it’s very different from the other shows I tend to lean towards (Gilmore Girls, Ally McBeal, etc.). I used to think that I would be considered weird if I watched a show with a name like that, when comparing to the other books and TV shows that I watched. But after a while, I realized that the name doesn’t acknowledge how mature their situations are, whether it be a new threat to Beacon Hills or the loss of a loved one. I only wish that I could make others understand and respect it as much as it deserves.
When I first came across this show, I thought of it as cheesy, weird, and a theme tremendously overused since the Twilight Saga era. And this was before I even watched the Pilot. Nonetheless, a close friend of mine really enjoyed it and somehow persuaded me to watch it as well. The pilot was a rough start for me, mainly because of how weird the special effects looked (which have tremendously improved since Season 1).
Now that the show is on it’s 4th episode of Season 5, I feel like the story lines have also matured and progressed with the age of the characters. We started off with Scott and Stiles in their sophomore year, battling against unknown forces and trying to understand the supernatural and their place in that world to Scott being an alpha, with a loyal and loving pack (despite the sudden problems Jeff Davis claims are to come this season). Every season, they begin to face a newer and more threatening situation. As expected, this would cause a lot of character development, as well as the beginning and ends of many relationships (ex: Jackson and Lydia finally ending theirs, Scott and Kira beginning theirs, and Stiles and Scott’s bromance only getting better).
If I were to rate this show, I would give it a 5 out of 5 for amazing acting, plots, and scripts. It is truly amazing to see how far it has come over the past 5 years and know that it will continue onto more seasons.
