Avengers Review: Age of Ultron
Action packed, filled with jokes, and a swarm of the best superhumans..?! I don't know about you, but that sound like Avengers to me. Age of Ultron. That just sounds awesome. If any of you have ever seen my Pinterest, you know how involved I am in the Marvel fandom (let me just summarize: a lot).
*DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON*
Okay. Okay okay okay. LETS JUST TALK ABOUT THOSE FLASHBACKS. Particularly Steve's. WHERE HE THOUGHT OF PEGGY. Let me be honest, I didn't think they would mention Peggy (mostly because it's secondary to the main plot). But I was so happily surprised to see Agent Peggy Carter in the flashback. No matter how much pain/feeling/crying it brought me. Regardless, the fandom thrives on being masochists.
Now back tracking to the first word of the entire movie. Tony cussing. And Steve calling him out. *applauds, bows, and falls over*.
The twins. Oh the twins (and the pain they bring me). Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver have always been a personal favorite of mine and their addition to the Avengers team was fantastic (well, maybe just the one of them).
One thing I greatly admired was how they were to incorporate so many emotional scenes into a such an action packed film. I find that's always important: making sure action and violence doesn't distract from the plot and the fact that despite being talented and extraordinary, they have feelings and emotions just as anyone else does.
Ultron is probably one of the creepiest heroes ever only because HIS VOICE SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME. Everything about him just made my skin crawl for some reason. Bleh.
At this point, all the references they made to past movies (and their personal lives) made the little "feels" part of my heart go BOOM BOOM BOOM. Seeing Nick Fury back in on the action and CLINT HAVING A WIFE AND KIDS was also part of the reason there was a lot of squealing and crying coming from seat F18 in the movie theater.
So overall, lots of BOOM BOOM, a lot of strangled sobs from me, and STEGGY feels. All in a lovely afternoon.
