My encouraging encounter
After a hectic day of running around, events, exploring, and even a headache, I finally made it home. Oh home! Sweet home! Ready to take the longest nap I possibly could, I made a beeline for my bedroom to change into my reliable footy pajamas (all the while hitting my shoulder against a wall, a counter, and my closet). Flopping on my bed after making my second cup of mint tea, my mom approached me with a book and a note in her hands. Before saying anything, my mind immediately screamed "RED ALARM!! BOOKS. APPROACH CALMLY AND SURELY". A new book is to me like calcium is to bones or flour is to bread. Necessary and longed for. Lack of can cause seizure, memory loss, and in many cases, a tantrum best suited for an 8 year old.
Now before I continue with the rest of this story, I would like to give some background information on my mom's tendency. She often talks about me in her workspace. To coworkers, patients, custodians, etc. I guess it's a maternal thing, for them to just ramble about what their child is doing. Although my mom tends to keep it short and sweet, she doesn't forget to remind everyone how much I want to be an author.
So when my mom began the story of how one of her patients, a sweet science professor, is writing a sci-fi novel, I was all ears. She then got on about how she told him I was aspiring to be a better author. And this incredibly kind man decided to purchase me a book about how to do just that (The picture below shows the note and book).
I was just amazed that someone would be kind enough to buy a book for a complete stranger, including in the note about how this will help me in my writing and about his utter faith in the book. It was so absolutely freaking kind and awesome, I just want to climb up a mountain. Or write a book (see what I did there).
Just want to share with you guys that I'll be reading this book and giving my full review in the near future!
Hope your Wednesday was wonderful!
